For The Last In Line - Ronnie James Dio Fundraiser
Vocalist Blade of the Swedish hard rock band FATAL SMILE has issued the following update:
"Two days ago Y [guitar] sent me a piano ballad he wrote while saddened by the horrile tradegy of Ronnie's passing due to cancer. That night I wrote the lyrics and melody to the song 'For The Last In Line'.
"We decided to have it recorded and released in the name of Ronnie's new fund, Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund. In the morning we recorded it and today it was mastered and released.
"We have decided not to release the full version on Spotify, but it can be heard on YouTube as of tonight!
"I guess it's some kind of record, getting a song released a day after it's written...
"Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund is registered as owner of this song, and gets 100% of all sales!
"Buy it to support his cause, the fight against cancer."

Heavy Metal Britannia
Voiced by Nigel Planer, "Heavy Metal Britannia" traces the emergence of the genre in Britain in the late Sixties and Seventies.
Metal began life in the mid-Sixties underground rock scene — a fledging style spearheaded by the likes of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.
This early metal was dominated by paranoia and darkness, albeit often tongue-in-cheek. The players were male, mostly working-class — a uniquely Seventies British style — spawning their own long-haired, headbanging audience with their own dress codes and world view.
While this generation still defines classic British metal, it was nearly overtaken by British punk in the late Seventies. Then back came a new generation such as Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Saxon, dubbed "The New Wave of British Metal" by the press.
As the Eighties dawned, the best of these two metal generations were ready for the long haul — to make their genre the key force in music it remains today.

DIO
Iron Maiden e Heaven & Hell. A combinação perfeita.
Poucos o conseguiriam fazer.
WE ROCK!

Triste dia...
Wendy Dio, wife/manager of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.
"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.
"We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.
"Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.
"Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."
It was only a month ago that Dio, 67, spoke about his battle with cancer with the Artisan News Service on the "black carpet" of the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which took place on April 8 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. When asked about how he had been feeling since he was diagnosed with the disease late last year, Dio said, "Well, I feel good and bad at times. It's a long process. Chemotherapy is a... I never realized what a difficult thing it was to go through. It's a real cumulative effect — the more you have, the more it piles up on top and it takes longer and longer to get over it. I find it very difficult to eat. I don't like to eat anyway, so I guess that's OK. But I know I have to. But this makes it very, very hard. But if you're determined to beat it, then you have to go with what you believe is going to beat it for you, and in this case it's that. I go to a great hospital in Houston called M.D. Anderson, which I think is the best hospital in the world, I have the best doctor in the world, Dr. Ajani, who I really trust and I really believe in, so I think I've done all the right things. It makes me feel positive about my life and positive that there is a lot more of it to live."
Earlier this month, HEAVEN & HELL canceled its summer tour plans in Europe due to Dio's treatment for stomach cancer. The band said in a statement that Dio wasn't "well enough to tour this summer. We hope that everyone understands and want to thank fans and industry colleagues for their continuing support at this time."
Ronnie James Dio had performed with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO. Other musical projects included the collective fundraiser "Hear 'n Aid". He is widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He was most recently involved with HEAVEN & HELL, a project which also included former BLACK SABBATH bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice. Their first and only studio album, "The Devil You Know", was released on April 28, 2009.

Feira do Livro

"That's right, we're super-heroes. You love us.", diz a certa altura Red Mist, numa das cenas mais cómicas do filme.

Living IV
“Well John i understand what you are saying, always the idealistic one right?” said Carl with a prosaic smile, “What can i say? Despite the fact that i don't regret any decisions i made in the past, it became fairly obvious that i've made the wrong ones. Or one, since it takes but one bad decision or one less good to give you an entirely different direction in life. Just a small one. A tiny glitch in the system. A small pebble in the machine. It’s not an easy conclusion, but life forced it into me! Yeah, i know, i'm being somewhat a drama-queen, and maybe exaggerating, but it's only to put things in a different perspective, a new radical one in order to give me support for a new level of sorts!” Carl smiled again and drank his beer all of a sudden. John couldn’t figure out if it was a sad smile, or a simple down to earth, practical smile.
“And”, Carl went on, “despite the fact that i've always strangely believed that my way of life, my way of perceiving the world and the people in it was the correct one (even with several identifiable flaws, here and there), i couldn't help but feeling that it wasn't so and that there are, for sure, other flaws that i wasn't able to identify correctly or even at all. I dunno if i’m getting the point across to you…maybe i need another beer!” They ordered a new round while the band in the back struggled with U2’s ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’.
“Jesus, John”, said Carl laughing, “what a terrible band! Even we sounded better in that old garage in Lombard Street, remember?” He laughed even more.
“Yeah, that’s true” John laughed too, but he was still thinking hard on what he just heard. “Those were great times! We couldn’t play jackshit, not even for our lives, but we did have fun, didn’t we? Where is it all gone?”
“Yes, we did have fun. Where is it all gone? Well, you answered it my friend: it’s gone. As simple as that. We changed, we moved on. It had its time, and eventually things, we as well, moved on. It’s all part of the process remember? We move on, we evolve, some thing are bound to be left behind. It’s called ‘learning’. Knowing ‘we can’t always get what we want’, if you know what i mean…”
“Yeah, yeah”, John replied, “’but if we try we might just find what we need’, i know the song as well!”
“So, that’s more or less it, i’ve decided to let go of all i ‘wanted’ and focused on what i ‘need’. I've clearly realized somewhere along the way what my main goal in life was to be, and fought for it, but it seems now somewhat obvious that this seemingly simple, almost corny, goal was harder to achieve than it looked, maybe i should doubt that it was ever achievable, or maybe i’ve lost the momentum, i dunno. Or most probably, the weapons i had to fight for it were the wrong or inadequate ones. Or maybe i chose the wrong ones. Anyway, i’d say that there was a great deal of naivety in all of that. Again, it’s part of the process to leave that naivety behind. Choices, decisions my friend. They scar you for life, for the good and for the bad.”
John looked to his friend in a moody pensive way. “Yes, that’s true, but do you actually think that you’ve made the wrong ones?”
Carl scratched his head. “Maybe not actually wrong choices per se, but maladjusted, inadequate, not suitable for this world, its people and expectations. A most definitive mistake or failure to perceive life that had the permanet effect of making me somewhat ill prepared to cope with this system. A small glitch like i said. A tiny pebble...something of the likes of the famous butterfly effect...” Carl looked beyond John, trying to find the right words. “So that is it Johnny boy, it’s a ‘adapt and get on with it World’ we live in, so i adapted and moved on. Get with the program. Deal with the cards we have!”
I need another beer damnit”, said John.
“You go ahead and and i’ll join you!”, cheered Carl, “you see, saying i just wasn't made for this world, like Wilson sang – i seem to remember that you used to quote that a lot back in the day, right? -, just doesn't cut it anymore. It runs deeper than this. That essential flaw of perception would get me anytime, anywhere. Once it's here, it's forever it seems. God almighty, they’re butchering ‘Free Bird’ now…we should get up on stage and teach them!
Anyway, that somewhat hidden conviction that i was right and in the good path has somehow fallen off. The golden assurance that i'm worthy, that i deserve what i aimed and strove for is now different somehow. I should've known better. The fact that everyone is heading one way was enough to tip me of my wrong way. I felt kinda out of focus. I’m trying to focus myself back in. I didn't lose sight of that main goal i talked earlier, i just decided to try and get there in a different way, a different path.”
“Very well Carl, a toast then. To us, life and learning. It seems it will never stop. The learning i mean. But i see your logic, i see where you’re trying to get. I was afraid that you were giving something up. I see now i was wrong. Anyway, these are all things that have been floating in my mind for some time now. Funny, how a simple song from Metallica started all of this in me”.
“Metallica John? No my friend. Listen to the Stones. The Stones. So, for old times sake, are we gonna get up on that stage or what? The kids will thank us in the end.”
“Sure Carl, i even know what song we’ll do first.”
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You get what you need

The Path Part 1 – Treading Through Darkness
Darkness, I believe thee not
Thy empty words shall avail thee naught
A fire in this heart of mine
To gaze again upon these walls of thine
Desire to soar once more
Upon these broken wings on which I have flown before
Tongues of flame shall paint the canvas red
As once told, I shall part the rising sea
Seeds from the blood that I shed
Feet sink deeper into grains of golden sand knee deep
Every step I take is a drop in this sea of sleep
In which I have swam and drowned
The wind whispers death, as temptation drips from her song
Tears run dry - will I survive?
Hear my cry - will I arrive?
Heading home forever more
All past grief is now gone
The gift of life to me
They bequest mine is the sight in the blindness
As I'm treading through the path, in darkness

Orphaned Land @ Santiago Alquimista 2010
"I know we're not a typical metal band. But are you having fun so far? We come from a different place, from the Middle East and that is why we dress like this and play these tunes...but we know that Portugal is also a country of great ancient history so probably you can understand us, right?"
