I'm sorry if you missed the first three hours of the show. You can always rewind it on live digital pause...oh fuck...i'm sorry...it's a live show! If you missed it you weren't there! That's what i love about Maiden...'cos, you know...we're still at it, don't do too bad selling records and stuff like that, but in truth the reason we're all here is not because we listened to a bunch of records and a bunch of hits in the radio and bullshit like that. We're here because we're Maiden fans, all of us, and because we (like it?). And with all the shit that's going on in the World right now, you know, we could well do with a World Metal Government. Not much shit would get done, there'd be a lot of drinking, a lot of sex, everybody would be totally fucking deaf, but nobody would die. But there would be a lot of songs about death! But we could live with that because nobody actually dies (well, they'll do, eventually).

So we'd like to dedicate this particular song - on the subject of people dying unfortunately and in very sad circumstances - we'd like to dedicate this particular track to a mentor of mine, a guy who very sadly passed away and somewhere, hopefully, he's looking, up there, taking the piss out of me. Mr. Ronnie James Dio.

So, this is a guy about who i can truly say: Ronnie, i am not fucking worthy, even if i am three inches taller than you!

Life is like that. Much like some piece of clothing you see in the window of some shop, or simply being wore by someone. You look at it, you like it, you imagine yourself in it and you approve it. "Man, that will look really good on me!" But, when you try it out, sometimes, it just isn't you, "Damn, i look half-witted in this!!" It's not your style after all, much to your dismay. It has everything it could possibly have for you to appreciate it, but not with you in it. Sometimes, some clothing is only good for you to see in someone else's body. Much like life then...sometimes there are certain things that aren't meant for you. Or they just aren't your style. As much as you want them, they, ultimately, don't fit with the rest of your persona. Rather weird indeed. But you'd better get over it. Who knows? Sometimes you may even come to acknowledge that those things aren't the best for you. Some things are bound to be be left behind...

Bom, e pelos vistos, está-se a tornar moda. Há muitos otários por aí fora! Pergunto-me o que levará esta gente a auto-intitular-se com tal epíteto...Serão eles os otários? Serão os clientes? De qualquer forma não deixa de ser algo caricato, bizarro, mesmo suis generis, parafraseando um famoso Doutor da minha criação. Serão os donos deste estabelecimento brasileiros desconhecedores do significado da expressão (se, como o outro dia descobri, alguns nem sequer sabem o que são tremoços, mesmo trabalhando em quiosques apropriados a servir tal marisco)? Talvez não, pois segundo o dicionário Priberam, a origem da palavra é brasileira e significa precisamente "indivíduo tolo, fácil de ser enganado". Enfim, curiosidades populares.

El Dorado

E em notícias definitivamente mais apelativas, "El Dorado", o novo single de Iron Maiden! Algo diferente talvez, excepto no brilhantismo. Capa excelente, já agora e realmente diferente do habitual.

16 de Agosto, novo disco! Se tudo correr bem, vejo-os antes. Se tudo correr ainda melhor, voltarei a vê-los depois. Quem sabe?

OS QUATRO CAVALEIROS DO APOCALIPSE

Se bem me lembro, os ditos cavaleiros são referidos na Bíblia, certamente no Livro dedicado ao Apocalipse. São eles que trarão os males que levarão o Mundo ao seu fim, os responsáveis pela fome, pestes, mortes e guerra que consumira o nosso Mundo até à sua total devastação e destruição. A Hecatombe total, o Juízo Final.
São geralmente representados pelos símbolos relacionado na narrativa: Conquista, Guerra, Fome e Morte. Surgem cavalgando animais cuja cor, também ela, é carregada de simbolismo, branco (pureza), vermelho (sangue e guerra), preto (a maldição e a peste) e verde (morte, decomposição). A sua chegada anunciará o fim da existência tal como a conhecemos, a miséria, tragédia e dor alastrará por todo o lado e, pior ainda, servirão de meros arautos de provações ainda maiores que estarão por vir. Não sei se a Bíblia faz acompanhar a chegada de tais seres demoníacos com algum efeito sonoro, mas pessoalmente imagino que essa chegada será anunciada ao som de trombetas infernais e ensurdecedoras, capazes de provocar e instigar os piores medos de que há conhecimento na Humanidade. Um som assustador e ensurdecedor. Pois bem:

Arrependei-vos, pois o Fim está próximo... As cornetas infernais sopram já, constantemente.

Ora bem...

...depois de uma pausa, vamos lá actualizar o expediente. Devagar, devagarinho, que isto ainda está em mode férias. Muita coisa para comentar, embora não seja eu o grandiloquente Grande Comentador!

E pronto. Mais um Rock in Rio. A impressão geral não se desfez em boa verdade. Não tenho nada contra o evento, mas sinceramente não é bem a minha onda. Que hei-de fazer? Sou algo antiquado, do tempo em que os festivais de música eram isso mesmo: festivais de música. Ali para os lados da Bela Vista decorre, de dois em dois anos, um mega evento megalómano, quase assustador, mais parecido com uma feira, um circo, um centro comercial ao ar livre. Aliás, este ano, com rodas gigantes e montanhas russas, mais parecia uma reencarnação da Feira Popular. As "barracas", ou stands dos patrocinadores pululam por todo o recinto, grandes, luminosas e ruidosas, cada uma com a sua música mais alta que a outra. Filas e filas de pessoas para o que quer que seja, desde o mais pequeno brinde, ao "peep-show", escorregas, slide, etc etc. E lá pelo meio dois palcos, super distantes um do outro, muitas encostas para subir e descer, muito caminho e relva (embora no último dia seja só terra e pó, muito pó, porra) para pisar. Gostava de ter visto os Hail! com a Diana Piedade, mas como se se sobrepunha a Motorhead, e a viagem de um palco ao outro levava uns valentes minutos?

No meio disto tudo o aparente objectivo inicial: ouvir e ver música ao vivo, parece secundário. É um ambiente muito diferente do que costumo experimentar, mas pronto, faça-se o festival, para gáudio dos largos milhares que lá se deslocam. Enfim, é natural que a organização queira o maior número possível de pessoas, e para tal nada como oferecer o máximo de actividades extra curriculares a todos. É o conceito do festival e acho muito bem. Pessoalmente acho demasiado cansativo e histérico.

Não digo que não voltarei lá, mas em boa verdade penso que só voltarei se arranjar bilhetes à borla ou com um valente desconto. Ou se lá for uma grande, grande banda. Que, por este andar, só os Iron Maiden poderão ser. Os preços são, como se sabe, astronómicos a meu ver. Por muito que gostasse de ver os Muse, custou-me dar 60 € para ver o concerto a km de distância.

Seja como for, valeu a pena por Motorhead, Megadeth e Rammstein.
